On
Saturday 24th
March, the Seniors and Brigaders of the 1st
Sittingbourne GB held a Fizz and Quiz fundraising evening as part of
our badge work. We decided we were going to raise money for Comic
Relief. The quiz consisted of 10 rounds ranging from Geography to
Naming the Celebrity and from Sport to Anagrams. As well as the 10
quiz rounds there were interactive games which everyone willingly
participated in and thoroughly enjoyed, especially because of the
chocolate prizes. Another part of the evening was Karaoke. Various
members of the church entertained with Love is all Around and Living
Doll, as well as some BB members performing the Cheeky Girls.
The
evening was a roaring success and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy
themselves. As well as enjoying the night we managed to raise an
impressive £306.30.
Thanks
Emily,
Laura. Lizzie, Chloe, Jade, Lizzi & Sarah

Mothering sunday 'Big Breakfast & Mud Dunk' |
|
|
|
|
On Sunday March 18th, Mothering Sunday, members and friends of East Peckham Methodist Church sat down to a full English breakfast cooked by stewards Barry & Nick, ably assisted by Paul and hindered by the minister Gary. Almost 100 meals were served. Tables were waited by Boys & Girls Brigade members who also did the washing up. After the meal there was a short service led by Gary and the 'Nspire' youth group and this was followed by the 'messy business'! The Mud Dunk was supposed to take place outside the church but owing to the biting north wind, pity was taken on the participants and sheets of polythene were laid in the hall. First BB Officer Tony White, then Junior boy Joseph Boyle & Brigader Jasmine Boyle were all unceremoniously dunked in a vat of very messy & VERY cold mud.

There was a reason for all this mess & silliness. Since last September both the Boys & Girls Brigades have sponsored a little boy called Bassirou Boubacar through the charity World Vision. Bassirou, who is 7yrs old and lives in the African Country of Niger has no school to go to and so the church has decided to raise the money needed to build one. The appeal was started on Christmas morning and we were told we needed £4000. To date, 3 months later we have £3000. I do not know how much was raised in sponsorship by the Mud Dunk but I will keep you posted. Margaret
